Two-time Grammy winner Marcus Miller was born in Brooklyn, New York, and is an acclaimed bassist, composer and producer. With his distinctive style—a combination of funk, groove and soul—coupled with his extraordinary technical skills, Miller has been dubbed one of the most influential artists of our time. Bass Player magazine includes him on its list of the 10 most influential jazz players of this generation, and in 2013 he was appointed a UNESCO Artist for Peace. His characteristic sound can be heard on a long list of musical hits. These range from Bill Withers’s “Just the Two of Us” to Luther Vandross’s “Never Too Much” to songs from Elton John, Herbie Hancock, Eric Clapton, Aretha Franklin, George Benson, Chaka Khan and Bryan Ferry—to name a few.
