Scientology Network’s DESTINATION: SCIENTOLOGY, the weekly travelogue series that takes viewers inside Scientology Churches all around the world and discovers what makes each one unique, presents an episode featuring Tampa, Florida.
DESTINATION: SCIENTOLOGY airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Scientology Network.
Nestled in the heart of Tampa, Florida, is the city’s historic touchstone. In the center of the Latino district of Ybor City, Ybor Square is an 80,000-square-foot building that has loomed over Tampa’s skyline since the 1880s. Built by an émigré from Spain, it was once the largest cigar factory in the world. Today, nearly a century and a half later, the Ybor City complex is home to the Church of Scientology. All of its original charm has been refurbished and preserved, following 14 months of work by the Church to bring it back from years of vacancy.
In this episode, witness the finished magnificence of Ybor Square and learn how Scientologists have improved not only the historic structure, but the entire neighborhood and sense of community pride in this historic sector of the city. You’ll also hear how the Church staff and volunteers were out in force before Hurricane Irma hit, helping shore up Tampa Bay area businesses, bringing supplies to shelters, even helping ensure the safety of the inhabitants of a bird sanctuary, and in the storm’s aftermath, engaging in a massive cleanup effort. Just one more example of how this Church serves its community.
